Fox in the City Book Cover Design Project

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Fox in the City is a conceptual book cover design project created for fictional author Charlie Leefang. The story follows Vivica, a clever and charismatic fox who leaves the forest behind for city life, where she encounters a group of opinionated "hens" and discovers that adapting to a new environment can lead to unexpected challenges and humor.

The goal was to create a cover design that captures the contrast between Vivica's sly personality and the playful conflict of her new surroundings. Through typography, imagery, and composition, the project explores how a cover can introduce a story's tone and personality before the first page is opened.

DESIGN APPROACH

The visual direction focuses on balancing charm, wit, and storytelling through a memorable editorial design system. The cover development explores character, hierarchy, and visual contrast to create a design that feels engaging, approachable, and reflective of the book's playful narrative.
